of lovely things

brooke_david_05
rise and flow, reach out and billow —
the caress of star-bedecked cheeks, of
coffee-skins resplendent with flavors
of earth, slings, of two-days old sweat,

encounter the mirth of every golden
brow – never else would be any but
for a poem lovely as a full-throated
ease of a desire – the divine delights

of souls quivering to the lip-service
of lust, one-two-inches deep – glassy
wounds – eager, ephemeral feelings
rising, flowing, deluging, dazzling –

  1. There are some dazzling lines in this poem, Anmol! Especially:
    ‘coffee-skins resplendent with flavors
    of earth, slings, of two-days old sweat’;
    ‘… a poem lovely as a full-throated
    ease of a desire’
and oh, those ‘souls quivering to the lip-service of lust’!

  2. Oh my Anmol. You really flew close to the summit of desire in this. ” poem lovely as a full-throated ease of a desire”. The two days old sweat. So many of these images reach out and touch me. Earthy but yet,it is light as a cloud. I think this is my new favorite of yours.

I really love the closing here, the last stanza … wow, it just shimmers for its own mirage, the metaphors, the golden illusions … and I particularly like where you placed the ” a poem lovely as” phrasing in this poem – it really works beyond measure; it both startles for its unexpectedness, yet fits and carries us from the what as come before, to where we’re heading, which is yet, still mysterious (until we read on) …. yes, yes, we sing word perfection here, or as close as it possible?

I love the complexity of your poems, and the soft sinuous nature of them HA. πŸ™‚

If it can invoke such feelings of innocence then life is worth the waiting as It provides an outlet to let loose the impending tensions!
