Choices: A Haibun

Reclusive Poetry

It was a winding path to nowhere. He carefully trod barefoot, along the wooden railing, his perspiring hands leaving a trace on the uneven surface. He had a choice to make with every step he takes- does he want to continue moving till the end of this course comes naturally or would it be better if he just took a leap, down into the fathomless valley, meeting his end by his own actions? It was a moment when he came to an abrupt halt; his eyes squinted in concentration over this very question. He was not sure what he wanted to do. He stood there and waited.
